EDA THESS inauguration in the 83rd Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF)

Once again, EDA THESS is actively participating in the 83rd Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). Its Pavilion inauguration took place on Sunday 09.09.2018 in the presence of Mr. V. Bouras, EDA THESS President, and BoD Members, Mr. L. Bakouras, EDA THESS General Manager, Mr. P. Galizzi, ENI Gas e Luce, Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs, Mr. D. Tzortzis, DEPA CEO and the whole staff of the Company.

 

The inauguration was attended by Mr. G. Stathakis, Minister of Environment and Energy, and Mr. S. Famelos, Deputy Minister of the Environment. The Minister, Mr. Stathakis informed the audience of the transformation of the natural gas sector, focusing on network expansion to cover most Greek cities. He stated that in his point of view, EDA THESS plays a strategic role in the energy sector in Greece, while the Company constitutes a raw model for such transformation. In his welcome speech, Mr. Famelos, Deputy Minister, said that major settlements, which have been included in the EDA THESS Development Plan and constitute poles of professional and industrial activity, shall benefit from the use of natural gas.

 

A special honor was the visit of the Italian Ambassador, Mr. L. Marras, accompanied by Mr. E. Barbato, Commercial Attache, Mr. K. Gioutikas, Deputy Development Governor of Central Macedonia and Mr. N. Boulaxis, President of RAE.

 

Mr. L. Bakouras, EDA THESS General Manager, in his speech underlined the fact that EDA THESS has developed safeguards to avoid any biases, which are organizationally and functionally independent and autonomous. He referred to the Company’s development program which aims at network expanding and supplying remote areas to Thessaloniki and Thessaly. He stressed that consumer satisfaction is reflected in the course of new connections, which are expected to exceed 20.000 by the end of 2018. He added that in the autumn, the areas of N. Rysio, Michaniona, Epanomi, Chalastra, Lagkadas, Koufalia, Elassona, Tyrnavos and Kalampaka shall be supplied with natural gas.

 

Mr. Galizzi, congratulated the General Manager and the management team and thanked all staff for the EDA THESS’ performance. He assured that the Company functions under operational independence, respecting the principles of equal treatment, transparency and objectivity in all its activities. Furthermore, he added that EDA THESS was the first company in Greece to install natural gas decompression stations to supply the remote areas. Finally, he confirmed the trust of ENI Gas e Luce and declared its full support to the Company investment plan.

 

On his part, Mr. Tzortzis expressed his satisfaction on the Company results, since 54% of the population in the region of Thessaloniki uses natural gas, and his support to the Company investment plan, with particular interest in new technologies. Our main concern is, according to his statement, “to bring gas as far as possible”.

 

Mr. V. Bouras, EDA THESS BoD Chairman, stressed that the Company plays a catalytic role in further gas penetration in the energy sector in Greece, with consumer satisfaction reaching 90%, according to Company surveys. He thanked the local bodies and the EDA THESS staff for such positive results.

 

Mr. K. Gioutikas, Deputy Development Governor of Central Macedonia, welcomed the excellent cooperation of EDA THESS with the Regional Authority of Thessaloniki.

 

It was a rather successful event, as the EDA THES Pavilion was visited by numerous local authorities, municipal authorities, representatives of professional and technical associations, diplomatic corps members, the Hydraulics, engineers and installers of combustion appliances Bureaus, as well as citizens. Once more, the Company renewed its commitment to bring natural gas everywhere!
