On Friday, 15.11.2019, a meeting was held at the offices of EDA THESS between the Mayor of Elassona – Prefecture of Thessaly, Mr. Gatsas Nicolaos, the General Manager of EDA THESS, Mr. Bakouras Leonidas and the Company's Executives.
Due to the high demand for the connection to the natural gas network, the expansion of the network, the connection of the Industries in the city of Elassona, as well as the cold weather prevailing in the winter months, EDA THESS plans to install within the year 2020 a 2nd Gas Decompression Station (CNG) on the northeast side of Elassona to meet the needs of domestic, commercial and industrial consumers.
Since September 2019, the 1st Dairy Production Industry in Greece, in the city of Elassona, has switched to using natural gas through a distribution network supplied with CNG. According to the Industry’s consumption records so far, the consumption will exceed 1,000,000 cubic meters per year.
In addition, there is a strong public interest as 333 Connection Contracts have been signed up to date and 6,700 meters have been built on low-pressure network. At the same time, Connection Contracts have been signed with the 10 Municipal Buildings of the city.
The Mayor of the Municipality of Elassona, Mr. Gatsas N., stressed that it is an important and beneficial project for the city of Elassona. As he reported, there is a high interest from Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Consumers emphasizing the energy savings enjoyed by the municipal buildings by connecting them to the gas network.
It is worth noting that EDA THESS, in accordance with the 5-year development program 2019-2023, will invest in the Municipality of Elassona € 1.84 million for the development of network and New Connections, in order to serve more and more consumers.
